Recycling Committee Minutes

- New Business
- Introductions to the upstairs recycling program:
-Everyone signs up for a hallway n, each team will select a hallway leader
- Each upstairs hallway will be recycled once a week (take full recycling boxes from teacher’s rooms and empty them in the copy rooms in either downstairs A or upstairs C, then return the boxes to the teacher); each hallway team can work together to determine the most conviennt time and way to do this; we want everyone to participate- many hands make light work!
- By the last day of the week at the end of the school day, each hallway team leader will check in with Liz to confirm that thier hallway has been recycled
- Initiation of the upstairs recycling program:
- Need to obtain and distribute enough recycling boxes (probably paper boxes from the custodial staff) so that each upstairs teacher can have the option of having at least one in his/her classroom
- Need to have another recycling committee meeting to finalize hallway assignments and select hallway team leaders
- Begin recycling after these two steps have been completed…ASAP
- General Notes
- Better communication to and between members as well as sufficient and early advertisement of the meetings is needed for recycling committee to be successful !!!

Fundrasing

New: Halloween, we have thought of a new idea to raise money. We go trick or treating for money dressed as the Earth or water.

Reporting: We have maid $621.64 during the races. We worked Thursday and Friday after school and Saturday morning to afternoon.

Donations: We will be donating money to our usual organizations but we want to make a donation to a local oorganazation. I anyone has any ideas let Mrs. Stokes know.

10/19/09Hello!

I just wanted to fill everyone in on my endeavors.

For the Charlton recycling, I was told by Ms. Coleman that “The Charlton students are working with Ms.DiBenedetto on the collection of recycling on the first floor. [Their] days are already busy with academics, inclusion and vocational sites so [they] are unable to commit to further obligations at this time.”

As for the garden, I met with Mrs. Knight on Wednesday morning and she agreed to obtain a blueprint for the courtyard. She also suggested that we ask the senior class to donate money to the garden to dedicate to the class of 2010. Additionally, it was brought to my attention that “Miss Utility” should come survey the courtyard prior to digging.

I would like to have an officers’ meeting at 7:30 next Tuesday morning, October 20th and then have a general meeting for all members on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30.

Also—please remember that our first Adopt-a-highway will be held on Sunday, October 25 from 2-4.
